Enter all the cash flows, the interest rate per period and the number of periods in the appropriate fields. To enter data, click on the appropriate field (not the button) and type the value.

It is very important that the sign of any cash inflow be the opposite of the sign of all cash outflows.

It does not matter which is which, but they must be entered with the opposite signs.

You can enter the interest rate either as a decimal or as a percentage. In other words, you can enter the interest rate as .065 or 6.5.

When you have entered all the needed information, click on the button of the desired answer.

Suppose you want to find the price of this bond: Par value = 1000, coupon= 100 per semi annual period, maturity = 10 periods; yield to maturity (interest rate = 9.5% a period).

Enter the following data in any order: PMT = 100, FV = 1000, i = 9.5, n = 10 and click the PV button. Answer = 1031.39.

Suppose you want to find the yield to maturity on the same bond given its price. Enter the following data in any order: PMT = 100, FV = 1000, PV = - 1031.39, n = 10 and click the i button. Answer = .095.
