There is a fourth method for manipulating grobs which Bill has missed - the Machine Code Graphics routines in my library perform PIX?, PIXON, PIXOFF on grobs. They will also draw lines, boxes and circles into arbitrary GROBs.The downside is that the library is 3.5K - OK for people with "X" or "+" versions with extra memory but maybe a bit too big for a 48S/G.
